Your Clients Aren’t Buying What You Think They Are

Three former EVS clients left, tried other agencies, and eventually came back. That got my attention because they weren’t struggling to find offshore support. They had found other providers, but they hadn’t found the same experience.

Three Clients Came Back. Here’s What They Missed.

When I looked at why they returned, the answer wasn’t simply the VA. They missed the support that surrounded the VA and made the relationship work.

They missed:

  • Supervisor support
  • Better communication
  • Faster problem solving
  • Better matching
  • Accountability
  • Ongoing guidance
  • Feeling supported

That made me realise something important.

People don’t necessarily value the placement. They value what happens after the placement.

Anyone can promise to find you a person. The real test comes once that person starts working in your business.

The Grass Isn’t Always Greener

When clients leave, there is usually a reason.

Sometimes they want to try something different. Sometimes another provider promises a faster result, a cheaper option or an easier experience.

And honestly, I understand it.

Business owners should compare their options.

But three clients came back to EVS after experiencing those alternatives.

They had already seen what another agency could offer.

And they still chose to return.

That tells me the difference wasn’t simply who was placed in the role.

It was the service delivery model around that person.

What Happens After The Placement Matters

At EVS, the placement is only the beginning.

The experience continues through:

  • Recruitment
  • Training
  • Matching
  • Supervisor support
  • Performance management
  • Relationship management

Those things aren’t extras we added to make the offer look better.

They are what help the client and offshore team member work successfully together.

And when something goes wrong, the business owner doesn’t have to figure everything out alone.

There is someone there to communicate, troubleshoot, support and help move things forward.

That is the difference between simply having offshore support and actually having a support system behind it.

The Real Lesson For Your Business

This isn’t just an outsourcing lesson.

It applies to every business.

Your clients might initially buy your product, service or expertise, but what makes them stay is often the experience surrounding it.

So ask yourself:

  • What happens after the sale?
  • How supported do your clients actually feel?
  • What happens when something goes wrong?
  • Would they notice a difference if your key team member left?
  • Are you creating an experience they would willingly come back to?

Because those three returning clients reminded me of something I already knew, but seeing it happen made it even clearer:

They didn’t come back because they couldn’t find another option.

They came back because they couldn’t find another experience.
